Eternal Brain Theory
I believe that the Brain can be extracted from our fading physical body, all the vital functions that the body provides can be replaced artificially and life of the brain can be supported onwards, maybe indefinitely.
As for experience of existence further into the time line of reality for our consciousness/brain, we will be provided with a computer simulated environment, as we see in our devices today:
– an interface for controlling the server
– various apps for productivity/entertainment
– communication Virtual -> Real & Real -> Virtual
– all senses replaced artificially
This simulation experience will eventually become indistinguishable from the real.
Will someone join the discussion so we may dig deeper into this hypothesis ?
What if that’s not the future, but the present?
We’re talking about transhumanism here and one commentary on this was the newer remade version of Battlestar Galactica in which basically the whole of religion etc was expressed in terms of “the singularity” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity) combined with “simulation hypothesis” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation_hypothesis). Sorry for the spoilers if you didn’t know.
A more simplistic and fearful version of this is found in this short book that has been a cultural touchstone: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Metamorphosis_of_Prime_Intellect (it’s free)
While I’m not a fan of specifically simulation hypothesis specifics, I am a fan of seeing the universe as an emergent computational system. The end result is the same but there is no appeal to an external creator of the system, but instead an evolutionary process resulting in cognition, just like is suggested about the development of the human brain. Then the functions of the brain (actions of the universe) create the thoughts of a universal being like a computer hardware impulses or neuronal firing leads to calculation/thought.
Thus just like more is occurring in a brain than just movement of charge, more can be occurring in the universe than movement of objects. The execution of the universe can certainly represent an additional layer or world we can think of as “spiritual.”
This was my first paper on it:

This worldview does fit with a wide array of religions, actually and it just so happens it works well with aether theory. This is a system I’ve build in conjunction with aether physics that you can find some description of here in my interview with Deepak Chopra: https://youtu.be/c_cx5lrpno4
Though I much prefer the follow-up I immediately filmed with more detail: https://youtu.be/A7fpkVFrBKY
I even prepared a version for those who are more interested in spirituality than any physical reasoning: https://youtu.be/eUlN0phhNCE (this is a 4th recap episode but you can easily find the full episodes on that channel)
