I spent 5 years of 3 hours a day study on the brain to assist golfers in playing better golf. The brain is just an analog computer that stores “things” in various part of the brain. The majority of them are automatic with no feedback to the conscious mind. The marketing hype by motivational speakers (Harvard University being one) that you only use 10% of brain is almost to stupid to comment on. The brain uses 100% of what that sections function is suppose to do all the time. What is even better than the 10% myth is that the brain has so many connection for “things”, that it has basically no limits on new things that can be stored as a “things”. I have used the word “things” because there is good evidence that was is thought of as voltage, amps and resistance is photons and heat.

Hi @Jack thanks for making a contribution on this topic.

I agree that the task at hand is rather difficult if not impossible and I don’t mean to create a hype which would later lead to one’s disappointment.

It may or may not become a reality but it remains false until proven factual.

A beautiful utopian dream nonetheless, tangible only in utopian conditions which this reality does not hold as of yet.

That said, it may not need utopian conditions. OR maybe the sheer notion of its tangibility may provide the world with such conditions. But hey, who am I to say ?

Hi Christian. How would you say you envision the eternal brain, if eventually developed into a reality? and how would that affect future living conditions throughout the world? Please describe the utopian dream, if it eventually is achieved.

A quick thought to Jack. If the 10% myth actually isn’t a valid theory, why did they arrive at this conclusion? To me, it seems somewhat understandable what main idea they might have wanted to convey, that we have what seems almost unlimited possibilities, of a capacity to learn, think, and act at a much more extensive level than what most of us seem to have gotten used to. So maybe the intention of those who hypothesized the 10% myth doesn’t necessarily apply to such a limited use of our brain cells and activity, though instead of its more effective and creative use! Anyway, just a thought!

A myth is myth no matter the good intentions. Modern medicine and neuroscience have advanced to the state that myths and the supernatural are no longer needed.

Jack, I was in agreement with you, though wanted to clarify a few ideas there.

Also, there seem at least two different types of “myths”. One of which was thought up to hide, disguise, or cover up the truth of something. To intentionally tell a lie.

Another type of “myth” is around in more of the vicinity of a “hypothesis” which other may have heard about, and started to believe. The second one is, at least, possibly a bit more trustworthy.

Food for thought. Nobody discusses this, anywhere I looked – on the internet – no information whatsoever, IN FACT, a lot of MISinformation to turn me back from searching through, from trying to spark the ember.

Only from this hiding, disguising and cover up I could realise there’s something fishy.

I know it might be a delusion from the logistics point of view, however a damn good goal that might – just might – unite everyone. And this concerns all of us, no doubt, not only a few, dare I say it – one per cent.

As scientists, any meaningful discussion of how trillions of interacting signals passing through the brain can be saved and placed in to AI to maintain that persons identity should be based on a theory that can be tested with scientific instrument available today. A company called “Brain State” in Phoenix, AZ can manipulate the brains signals to produce a desired outcome. One navy seal with PTSD and the inability to sleep was saved with this technology. Discussion of things that may be possible hundreds of year in the future seems like it could be interesting, but of little practical use.
