Abstract

Gravity is vital in establishing the patterns of climate on earth, it is the force responsible for the pressure gradient under the influence of which our atmosphere moves. But gravity also modulates our climate, through the tidal influence of the planets on the Sun's output. This explains variations in the climate which can be correlated with solar variations over the 11 year cycle and longer; in addition I suggest that a 179 year variation in the planetary influence both accounts for the present droughts in Africa and India and offers hope of predicting such occurrences in future.
