John Dash received a Ph.D. in metallurgy from the Pennsylvania State University in 1966. He then joined the faculty of Portland State University, where he is currently Professor Emeritus in the physics department. He has five patents and more than 50 publications on metals, microscopy, and cold fusion, which he has studied since 1989.SUMMARY OF COLD FUSION RESEARCHBy electrolysis with thin palladium cathodes (25 to 350 micrometers thickness ) with a heavy water electrolyte, we have obtained excess heat commensurate with unexpected elements, believed to be transmutation byproducts, especially silver. Reproducibility is very good. Similar results have been obtained by electrolysis with titanium cathodes in a heavy water electrolyte, in which case excess heat is obtained along with vanadium and / or chromium.Since 1989, about 40 students have been trained in cold fusion research at Portland State University. Seven M.S. theses and two Ph.D. dissertations have been completed on this research. A demonstration of excess heat based on our experiment was performed by Portland-area high school students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the International Conference on Cold Fusion in August 2003. Since then, Italian high school students in Asti, Italy successfully replicated this demonstration in March 2004. - [http://www.newenergymovement.org/speakers.php#rauen New Energy Movement: Conference Speakers]<br />
